Dear Visitor

‍Welcome Back!

Children returned on Monday to find the school covered in light snow which created a lot of excitement! It has been brilliant to see the children again after the Christmas break and they seem very happy to be back in school with their friends.

Many thanks for your support over a very busy Autumn Term. In the last few weeks of term, Reception performed the Nativity and the whole school was involved in Christmas Theme Day, theatre trips, a wonderful Christingle service in church and the fantastic carol service. It was a great time to be part of school!

DfE Performance Tables

Just in case you missed this information before the Christmas break, I wanted to remind you of more really positive news about the school's performance.

The Department for Education (DfE) recently published Key Stage 2 school performance tables for 2025. It includes the measure of Results Over Time which averages performance over the last 3 academic years (2023-2025) to give an indication of which schools perform at a consistently high level. Of all primary schools in our Local Auhtority, Grendon CE Primary School ranks:

  • 1st for the percentage of pupils achieving at the expected standard (2023-2025)
  • 1st for the percentage of pupils achieving at the higher level (2023-2025)

Both charts below show the spread of achievement (2023-2025) across all North Northamptonshire schools. Grendon is the bar on the far left.

Playing Field

Some more excellent news to start the new year with - the playing field has been 'saved'! Please see below the communication from the Parish Council.

We’re thrilled to share the fantastic news that Sport England has awarded Grendon Parish Council the full amount requested in our grant application. This success would not have been possible without YOU and the wonderful community of Grendon. sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the residents and families who donated to the crowdfunder and for all the amazing photos you shared, which helped bring the project and community spirit to lifeYour contributions are still going to be essential to delivering the project and moving ahead with the purchase of the playing field. The crowdfunded support and local grant donations were pivotal reasons for the success of the application. Thank you as well to everyone who supported the bid in so many ways. This is a true community achievement, and we’re excited to move forward together. And thanks to everyone who plays the National Lottery!
