Dear Visitor

SIAMS Inspection

The SIAMS inspection took place last Wednesday and it was a very positive experience for the school. The inspector spoke to children, governors, parents and staff, scrutinised RE work, observed Collective Worship, visited lessons in each class, reviewed school documentation and observed children's interactions with each other and with staff. No stone was left unturned and I am looking forward to the school's strengths being reflected in the inspection report which will be published in the next week or so. I will of course share this with you at the earliest opportunity.

Open Afternoon - Thursday 12th February at 1.30pm

You are all warmly invited to join us for our Open Afternoon to mark the end of our current Global Curriculum themes. For those of you new to our Open Afternoons, please head to your child's class from 1.30pm where children will share their work from across the curriculum. I would also encourage you to visit the other classes in school to see what they have been learning. The afternoon is very informal and relaxed. School will be open as normal until 3.30pm but children can be collected from 3.00pm.

By Thursday, the children will have worked very hard to prepare for Open Afternoon. They have a very important role in sharing their work with visitors and talking to them about their learning and will, therefore, need to stay in their own class until 3pm.

Music performance

Music is always an important part of our Global Curriculum and each class will be performing a song in the school hall at a set time in the afternoon. The timings of the short performances are as follows, so please get to the hall in plenty of time to see your child:

Oak1.45pm
Cedar2.00pm
Pine2.20pm
Willow2.40pm

Business Enterprise

Willow Class will be running their Mexican themed business enterprise at Open Afternoon. A variety of Mexican dishes will be for sale, from pork tacos and corn salad to guacamole and tortilla chips! Please bring cash if you would like to sample some their delicious treats. I was lucky enough to taste some of the food during their Dragons' Den pitches earlier in the week and it is all very, very good.
