Dear Visitor

Netball Success!

Congratulations to our netball teams who represented the school at Wednesday's inter-school competition. After some brilliant coaching in PE lessons from Mrs Hodges, the children were very well-prepared and finished in 4th and 1st place overall! A fantastic achievement - as well as playing extremely well, the children were a credit to the school and we are proud of them all.

‍Summer Clean Up

The school's parent body is a highly valued resource for the school in so many different ways, from volunteering in school and involvement on FOGS to providing expertise and time to help us solve day-to-day issues that arise from maintaining a school building with a tight budget. Activities promoted and organised through FOGS require a very visible presence to gather support and awareness and I am extremely grateful for the incredible efforts of FOGS and their vital contribution to school. At the same time, a huge amount of support takes place that often goes unnoticed, completed by helpful individuals wanting to make a positive contribution to school. However the support is provided, the school is incredibly grateful for it all.

The recent SIAMS Inspection was an amazing endorsement of the school and of the partnerships that exist that contribute to making the school the wonderful place that it is. Below are some of the memorable quotes from the inspection report which is a source of great pride for everyone associated with the school. With all of that in mind, I would like to call on our parent body in a coordinated way to join us in a Summer Clean Up

You will be aware of proposals to explore the installation of a secure perimeter fence and, after a very wet winter with unprecedented levels of rainfall, the school is also exploring solutions to the persistent drainage issues that have affected us so badly this academic year.

The school is currently carrying out an audit of the outdoor spaces on our school site and staff and governors are compiling a list of jobs that we hope can be undertaken by volunteers to generally improve the school grounds.

Next half term, the job list will be shared via e-newsletter in the hope that parents will choose a task and bring relatives, friends, materials and tools to complete the work. More details will be shared next half term. School is responsible for authorising access to the school site, agreeing the scope of any work, coordinated jobs and managing risk assessments which means that all communication relating to the Summer Clean Up or any other aspect of school repairs and maintenance has to come directly to school.

The provisional date for the Summer Clean Up is Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May (the first weekend of the May half term) and so please put those dates in your diary if you think you might be able to help. It's possible that some works, with agreement of school, can be completed outside of that weekend.

The Summer Clean Up is something the school has done before and below are some photos from that busy and productive weekend!

FOGS Mufti

Don't forget FOGS Mufti tomorrow - pupils should come to school in mufti in exchange for a voluntary donation of an Easter egg!
