Dear Visitor

TCS Mini London Marathon In Schools

The school held its Mini Marathon on Tuesday and the children were incredible! Schools up and down the country set children the challenge of running 2 miles which, for us, equated to 10 laps of the playing field. We had a record number of finishers and were proud recipients of the special participation trophy. Everyone who took part received either a participation certificate or a finishers' medal.

‍Forest School

Mrs Dyson is currently training to become a Forest School Leader. This year-long course is a very comprehensive and nationally recognised qualification and will greatly enhance the provision for outdoor learning for all children within our school. The provision for Forest Schools is already having a very positive impact on our Early Years class and the assessor's visit yesterday brought with it excellent feedback on the activities on offer, the children's engagement and the work that underpins the vision. There will be so much more on Forest Schools to share with you in due course - it is a very exciting time.

‍'Those History People' - Ancient Greek Day

Cedar Class enjoyed an amazing day of role play with Phil from 'Those History People'. As you can see from the photos, the children were completely absorbed and looked wonderful in their costumes.

Step back in time to Ancient Athens, where the Persian Ambassador of King Darius has demanded the submission of the city. The Athenians are experimenting with democracy and have a deep mistrust of tyrants. Explore how the Greeks resist the Persian invasion and what they want to preserve through a combination of practical making activities, drama and role-play.

The pupils will be met by the Archon of the city, who will guide them around the Agora. After a short introduction the children will engage in a series of activities and role play that will immerse them in history including making a wax tablet, fresco painting, mosaics, carving, pottery and charms! .

During the afternoon session pupils will recreate the festival of Dionysus. Pupils will practise and then perform plays, dances and poetry of the Athenian festival.

Hockey Competition

Well done to our super hockey teams who took part in the local competition at Wollaston School on Tuesday. The teams finished in 2nd and 4th place and represented the school with great sportsmanship and effort. I am very proud of you all.

Gymastics Competition

In a busy week for sport, the school entered 2 teams for a gymnastics competition. One group took part in the 'Compete' competition and finished a very creditable 4th place, narrowly missing out on qualification to the County Finals. Our 'Development' gymnasts finished in 1st place in their competition which is a fantastic achievement and sees them qualify for the County Finals in June. Well done to all of our talented gymnasts.

Summer Clean-Up

The Summer Clean-Up weekend is at the end of this current term on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th MayI have attached a link to the job list below (which will be updated as we move forwards).

a) when you can help,

b) which number job you would like to tackle

c) whether you can source the materials and tools to complete the work.

4. If you are unable to be there on the day but can source any materials required to complete any of the jobs, please do get in touch.

Please direct any questions to the email above.

Reminders

Parents' Evening appointment slips have all been sent out. They are stapled inside your child's Home School Book.

Early Morning Supervision (8.30-8.45am). Rather than ask for on-the-day payments of 50p, the office keeps a tally of attendance and adds parents' 'bill' to ParentPay each half term. We would like to keep this arrangement for simplicity but there are a high number of outstanding payments. Please check your ParentPay account and settle up any payments.
