  Hello Visitor,

School Closure: Update

As it stands, schools have no additional information about the timeline and arrangements for school re-opening beyond the fact that Boris Johnson hopes to begin opening schools in England from 8th March.

A further announcement from the government is expected on 22nd February and the school will communicate it's response to this at the earliest opportunity.

Toilet Refurbishment

Never before has a planned toilet refurbishment a) generated such happiness, and b) been such a long time coming! Managing a very tight school budget year in year out sees the prospect of improving the toilets gradually rise towards the top of our priority list only for it to be overtaken by an unexpected mini-catastrophe or a need to put educational resources first.

However, the time has nearly come for the toilets to be completely refurbished. The work will be undertaken during the summer holidays and will see a complete overhaul of the boys', girls', disabled and staff toilets.

Internet Safety

As we reach half term, it seems sensible to share a short video from Simon Aston, NCC Online-Safety and Well-Being Officer. Children have had significantly increased access to the Internet during lockdown which, in principle, is no bad thing but it does pose some new challenges. Simon has produced a pre-recorded session on Zoom about online safety. He has allowed Diocesan schools to share it and you can access it via the link below. It will ask for a passcode which is 8lDxW&95

The school's Online Safety Policy is available on the school website and also via this link which is well worth a read.

Half Term & Remote Learning

School is closed for half term next week to all pupils and reopens to our Key Worker and Vulnerable Children group on Monday 22nd February. There is no expectation for schools to set remote learning during this time and so the next, two week Learning Grid for immediately after half term will be uploaded on Friday 19th February. Hard copies of the Learning Grid and resources can be collected from school when it reopens on Monday 22nd February.

Key Worker Form - WB 22.02.21

Please complete the Key Worker Form for the first week back after half term, WB 22.02.21. You can access the form here.

To make life a little easier, if you have already completed a form please just email your requirements to giving your child's name and the dates of the sessions they require.

The deadline for you to submit your requests is Wednesday 17th February by 5pm. All requests received by this time will be guaranteed a place in school next week on the requested days.

Global Curriculum

The current Global Curriculum themes are drawing to a close which means that, after half term, the focus shifts to a new country and brand new learning opportunities. School staff are busy creating new learning environments to support the new theme as we are all optimistic and very excited at the prospect of welcoming back all pupils very soon.

With a bit of luck, you should see an image below this text which links to a video recorded in school over a 10 minute period on a Friday morning in September. This was shortly after school reopened to all pupils and it was just wonderful to see a school full of children and hear the chatter and laughter of pupils playing and working together. The sooner we can start repeating the scenes in the video, the better. It hopefully won't be too long now.

(If you can't see the video link, you can find this video on the website homepage at www.grendonprimary.net).
